You may have read in the newspaper or via online postings recently in regards to the approved state budget and how it impacts the assessments for Ohio’s students for the 2015-2016 school year and beyond. Here is how this new legislation affects statewide mandatory testing.

  • Ohio’s Next Generation of Assessments for grades 3-10 will no longer be associated with PARCC (provided by Pearson).
  • Ohio will utilize one testing system, AIR, for grade 3-10 ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies online assessments. AIR was the testing company/system utilized during the 2014-2015 school year for Ohio’s online Science/Social Studies assessments.
  • Instead of two testing windows, there will only be one testing window for the grade 3-10 Next Generation of Assessments. This testing window has not yet been determined by the state for the 2015-2016 school year.
  • Students who entered 9th grade prior to July 1, 2014, who need to pass specific sections of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) to meet graduation requirements will continue to have the same opportunities as previous years.

State Mandated testing

All tests are administered face to face in locations set up around the state (one location within 50 miles of every TDA student). Taking these assessments is mandatory for all students that qualify. Not taking a test could mean an automatic withdrawal from TDA and loss of the right to attend any online school in Ohio. Please use these dates to plan ahead, and ensure students are able to attend testing.

TDA will have regional testing locations available for students to test. These locations will be announced at a later date.

**Note: Students are required to take all portions of their state testing requirements.**

As a parent or guardian of a TDA student, you will be responsible for making arrangements in getting your student to the testing locations on the dates and times required.
