All TRECA Digital Academy students must take state-mandated achievement tests (formerly known as 'proficiency tests'), required by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). State-mandated tests are given to students in grade 3 through grade 8. The Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) is administered for the first time to sophomores. Students are required to pass the OGT in order to graduate from high school.

7 Tips

TDA teachers and staff work diligently with students - and their parents - well in advance to prepare them for a successful outcome. TDA makes available to its students various software applications, including Study Islandİ, to enhance performance on the Ohio achievement tests.

Assessment

TRECA Digital Academy believes each student deserves the opportunity to reach the highest desired level of qualification for work completed. To assure that they are meeting educational standards, TDA students engage in two different types of assessment:

Coursework – comprised of assignments and activities that students complete to demonstrate an understanding of the material for each lesson.

Body of Evidence (BoE) – comprised of a selected assessment designed to measure a student's performance on those standards which align with the state of Ohio's Grade Level Indicators and Benchmarks. BoE assessments will be archived in each student's portfolio.

The assessment of Coursework and Bodies of Evidence are based on a Qualification Level system, which is listed below.

Qualification Level 3 = The student demonstrates a deep understanding of lesson concepts.

Qualification Level 2 = The student demonstrates an adequate understanding of lesson concepts.

Qualification Level 1 = The student demonstrates a minimal understanding of lesson concepts.

R = Rethink/Redo – The letter "R" will be given to any Coursework assignment or BoE in which the student has not demonstrated at least Qualification Level 1. The letter "R" indicates the student may have major misunderstandings or is missing critical information about the topic.

X = An "X" will be given to a Coursework assignment in which the student has turned in the assignment but will not be further evaluated.
