Nobody "slides" through TRECA Digital Academy, and nobody fails. Students progress through courses and grades as the work is completed, not before. There is complete accountability of teacher and student performance, available to parents 24/7 online, so parents don't have to wait for "grade cards" to discover whether a child is making progress.
All of TDA's curriculum is designed around the Ohio Academic Content Standards with each student working at a pace and in an environment that best meets individual and family needs.
The State Model Courses of Study are the basis for curriculum at TRECA Digital Academy. Through study and review of State Standards, Benchmarks, and Grade Level Indicators (GLIs), our curriculum department looks for content resources from the World Wide Web and subscription sites that support these standards and provide:
- Thematic and organized lessons and activities created around central ideas.
- Integrated subjects – Because topics are rarely presented in isolation in daily life, we believe that students can more readily make connections if course work is integrated. (Example: language arts with social studies or math with science.)
- Regular and varied assessments that allow teachers, students and parents to more readily identify progress and needed intervention.
- Opportunities for student-to-student and student-to-teacher interactions, using both synchronous and asynchronous communication tools.
- User-friendly, exciting and engaging software applications incorporated into learning activities.
Goals of Curriculum
TDA is dedicated to providing a positive learning environment that enables all students to:
- acquire the knowledge, skills, and judgment to learn independently.
- participate intelligently, justly, and responsibly in life.
- progress towards graduation at an individualized pace.
